A little about me…

I grew up like many young kids- loving sports and pestering my younger brother as much as possible. If anyone would have told me at a young age that I’d nearly lose it all at 20 years old I would have thought they were crazy. And now, 23 years after an unknown heart condition caused me to go into cardiac arrest and survive-I sit here and tell the world it was one of the best things to ever happen to me. This journey I’ve been on ever since has been anything but easy, but has ultimately ignited a passion and a greater purpose for the way I live my life.

I am a wife, a mother to two beautiful daughters, and a pediatric nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital. I love to travel, do legos, and spend quality time with family and friends.

Basketball has taken me all over the world, created memories I will never forget, and afforded me some of the best friendships I’ll ever know. My mission of chasing basketball championships has ended but a new one has emerged. I’m now on a mission to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest; particularly in young people and athletes, knowing how to do CPR, and locating the nearest AED.

Together, we can and will save lives from sudden cardiac arrest.

I am partnering with the Nick of Time Foundation to reach as many people as possible in this endeavor of SCA awareness. Please visit the “Donate to Nick of Time Foundation” tab for more information on their mission and how your donation to them will directly save lives. I can’t wait to come share my story with your company, your athletes, or your school.

With gratitude,

Kayla Burt
